Lance post-op: a turn of the screw

Based on post-op x-rays, Lance's collarbone issue seems way more serious than previously thought. I really hope he can do both Giro and Tour, or else I won't have an excuse to watch TV next summer! If this keeps up, I'll have to start training seriously.

New Swedish women's 100 mile run record

Elisabeth Karlsson (28) finished second overall and set a new Swedish record 23:13:55 for women's 100 mile (161 km) run.

She participated in TEC (Täby Extreme Challenge) 100/75/50/25 mile race last weekend in Täby, a suburb in northern Stockholm.

Due to icy conditions the original complex course plan was replaced with a simple flat 10 km loop. The weather was not too bad considering it was still winter. Temperatures ranged from moderate (day) to cold (night).

Kent Sjölund won the 100 mile competition with 20:17:49.

Lance's first collarbone fracture ever

The crash in Spain caused the first collarbone fracture ever for Lance Armstrong. It's a miracle that it hasn't happened before in his 17 years of pro cycling.

Yes this misfortune will definitely slow Lance down for a while, but I bet he'll be able to start Giro d'Italia in Venice on May 9th. After all he's an expert on comebacks, and I think he really would like to participate in the 100th Giro.

Sunday easy long run

It was a very nice sunny spring day today, -2 C (29 F). There's still too much snow and ice for fast running, but it's fine for an easy slow jog - or cross country skiing, which seemed to be the most popular option.

I didn't wear any gadgets for measurements, but it must have been about a half-marathon distance in about three hours. The ground was so slippery that even walking felt challenging most of the time, so I didn't even try to run seriously. A nice sunny workout in any case.

7 ultramarathons, 7 days, 7 continents. Seems like a couple of them made it - and carbon neutral too.

"You run long enough, something's bound to happen." The Distance of Truth is a new documentary film (DVD available now) about that.

The best cantaloupe salad ever

Cantaloupes

Cantaloupes are always great, but they make an amazing salad when mixed with a red hot chili pepper, tomato and rucola.

Also add some cevoo (cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil) and sea salt to taste.

Just give it a try, it will probably taste totally different from what you'd expect anyway.
