Reed and Cunningham battle in 6-day race

Renowned ultrarunner Pam Reed attempts to run 512 miles (824 km) in a six day race. The current women's world record is 510 miles - set by Australian Dipali Cunningham, who is participating in the same race.

The course of Sri Chinmoy Self-Transcendence Run in New York consists of a one mile loop. There are six and ten day races for both men and women going on at the moment.

After two days and 180 miles Reed is well ahead of her 85,3 miles per day schedule. Her only concern is that Dipali Cunningham leads the race with 189 miles.

It will be interesting to see how this battle ends. You can check out the daily results here.
