Teaser 80km du Mont-Blanc from MOUSS PRODUCTION on Vimeo.
Hi there all you crazy trailheads, just a short note to infom you that I just registered for a new exciting race in Chamonix: 80km du Mont Blanc on Friday 28 June 2013 (start 4am).
It's a 50-mile loop course Chamonix-Chamonix, with 6,000 meters (19,685ft) cumulative vertical up, and naturally the same down. It looks like a tough but scenic course to me. Definitely doable within the allowed 24 hours though. The weather will be a mystery as always, but it could possibly be warmer and sunnier than UTMB 2012 :)
Highest points along the route are:
- Bel Lachat (2,276m)
- Brevent (2,525m)
- Col du Corbeau (2,602m)
- Col de la Terrasse (2,643m)
- Signal (2,200m)
- Aiguille du Plan (2,200m).
It's organized by the same people who have put on Mont Blanc Marathon for years, so they should know what they are doing.
Trail Valley is a beautiful place, as you can see from the video. Hope to see you there!
The 80K loop route goes clockwise from Chamonix to Chamonix. |

Looks like a lot of fun...still thinking about UTMB next year. Maybe he running gods will be with us then?
They should be, or thousands of runners will be so pissed off that their hot heads shall warm us :)
I just read Warren Pole's UTMB report at http://www.irunfar.com/2012/10/mud-wet-and-fears.html and some guy commented "I don’t want to be cruel, but not a single weekend has been that terrible and cold since August here in Cham.. And we are end of October."
Going around the huge Mont Blanc massif in one weekend is the whole unique sick idea of UTMB. I suggest you regard this year's race as a training run for UTMB 2013. See you there, if the lottery gods will be on our side!
How did you sign up for the race? I cant find it on the mb-marathon website..
Looks like the perfect race/course!
Cheers from Tampere
Yea their website is a bit of a mess, just like most French websites, lol...
Click the first link in my blog to go to the Mpnt Blanc marathon website. Then click the first link on that page to go to the registration page by Active. Click the first race on that page, which is 80km du Mont Blanc. Then follow instructions until you are done.
Their website didnt work properly on mobile devices. Well, it's all done now and am excited about the 80k!
Good job, see you in Chamonix!
