Nuuksio Lake Highland Tour

Ascension Day is a holiday in Finland. The sun was shining in the morning, so without further ado we headed to the wonderful trails of Nuuksio National Park with TPjr.

We ran to the Espoo-bound train and then hopped on a bus to Haukkalampi trail on the North shore of Lake Pitkäjärvi.

We explored lots of interesting hills and boulders before reaching the National Park Guide Lodge at Lake Haukkalampi (Hawk Pond).

We continued to Lake Mustalampi (Black Pond), which offers fantastic streams, trails and boulders.

Then we returned the same way back and took the trail across wetlands to Haltia Finnish Nature Centre. I managed to fall on my face in full Superman position, but luckily the empty front bottles of my UD/PB-vest softened the blow. No major physical damage was suffered, but TPjr got a good laugh out of the incident. Only one bandaid was required, which is way below average for me.

The weather forecast mentioned a chance for showers. We wore our rain gear and the rain stayed away once again. However on our way back home in the bus we witnessed a short hailstorm.

Our Ascension Day provided plenty of hills, boulders and rocks for us to ascend. The Haukkalampi/Mustalampi area is a fantastic destination for all nature/outdoors lovers. This is obviously not a secret anymore as it was crowded with tourists from all over the world.

What a trip! We'll be back soon!
